Tim Donaghy’s name is one that is going to pop up a lot over the next few weeks. That’s because he’s an idiot. Donaghy, an NBA referee of 13 years, is under federal investigation on allegations that he bet on and fixed NBA games.

Hey Tom, ask Pete Rose how that worked out for him. Nevermind that, good luck finding work again. The NBA has had enough issues to deal with from Ron Artest to Kobe Bryant and back to Ron Artest. The last thing the guy who makes irrational decisions and runs the NBA poorly commish David Stern needs on his hands is a cheating scandal involving the one guy on the floor who ultimately controls the game; the referee.

I understand that Donaghy got in deep with the mob and was forced to fix games. If you’re in a position of power like Donaghy was and you get involved in mob activities, you deserve to get caught. Compromising the integrity of the sport is a party foul worthy of a few kicks in the groin. Not only that, but the federal government will be looking to press charges as well. Owned again, Tim.

While we won’t be seeing his mug on the hard wood floor ever again, you can bet that this story will get as much pimping as the Mike Vick scandal is getting. Considering the magnitude of the whole situation, it’s fair to assume that there will be some changes going on in the NBA. First order of business? Kicking Tim Donaghy’s sorry ass to the curb.
