Oh Look, T.O. Throwing A QB Under the Bus

Posted by rich on December 12, 2008

I’ll be honest, I was a little bit surprised by the newest incident involving Terrell Owens.  I suppose I wanted to believe that TO had turned the corner and was maturing as a teammate.  I was wrong.  My proverbial hand has been torched by the flame of Terrell Owens ego one too many times.  Terrell Owens is a horrible, horrible, horrible teammate.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone in any sport so quick to point fingers when things start going wrong.

In case you’re wondering what I’m talking about, I’m referring to TO’s latest outburst about Tony Romo and Jason Witten allegedly having “secret meetings” where they drew up “secret plays” to get Witten the ball instead of Terrell Owens.  Super mature.  What is this, the elementary school playground?  “Teacher, he won’t give me the ballllllll.”  God, I swear, the immaturity of some athletes never ceases to amaze me.

So what do the Cowboys do with this guy?  Terrell Owens is one of the best wide receivers in the league; a playmaker and a guy who has to be accounted for everytime he lines up wide.  The Cowboys can’t cut him for a number of reasons but what are they to do if TO goes TO on everyone and demands a trade.  Who’s going to want this guy?  No matter how desperate a team is for wide receivers (cough cough Tennessee) I can’t imagine anyone is willing to take a gamble with this guy.  It’s pointless for me to tell TO to shut up because I said that when he was with the 9ers and I said that when he was with the Ravens Eagles.  Stop being an attention whore, TO.

We Inch Closer To The Inevitable T.O. Collapse

Posted by kevin on November 11, 2008

As each day passes, I feel like we’re closer and closer to seeing Terrell Owens again laying on his front yard, doing crunches saying no comment.  It’s a day I certainly am looking forward to, and if the Cowboys continue to struggle (and with Brad Johnson or Brooks Bollinger at the helm, they most certainly will) then this T.O. meltdown could happen sooner than expected.

The signs of this implosion have been long in coming.  Even though the Cowboys started the year off hot, Owens wasn’t getting as many passes as he would like (all of them) and judging from his past, it would seem we’re nearing the end of his tenure with the Cowboys.

Then there was the Tony Romo injury, and things went from bad to worse.  With an incompetent, should be retired has been throwing him the ball, the outlook was bleak.  And when the Cowboys got Roy Williams from the Detroit Lions, the question wasn’t necessarily was it a fair trade, the question was how is T.O. going to react.  That isn’t normally a good thing.  And we know Williams is going to take catches away from Owens, that’s what happens when you have two good receivers on the field at the same time.

Now Owens is telling the coaches how to do their job, that is, to look back at 2007 and see how they got him the ball, and replicate that in 2008.  Owens appears to be re-realizing that the world does in fact revolve around him.  I would suggest getting your office pools going about when this train wreck happens.  In the meantime, I’ll be getting my popcorn ready.

Media Whores Are Fun

Terrell Owens is an assclown. It doesn’t take a genius to figure that out. He is one hell of a football player, but the guy completely lacks common sense, and has no respect for anything. He continues his demand for attention and the spotlight even during the offseason. And how does he go about doing this? By attacking one of the greatest coaches to ever live.

Terrell Owens said that he got nothing out of his one year playing for Bill Parcells. I understand that Owens and Parcells hate each other, and what else could you expect from two egos that big clashing, but Owens just needs to show some respect. If anything, Owens should have learned a little something called discipline and respect, he clearly didn’t. He has wasted no time in complimenting how laid back his new head coach, Wade Phillips, is in comparison to Parcells. That might be good in Owens eyes, but when I think of successful coaches I tend not to think of laid back ones, and I don’t think that is merely coincidence. It takes a strong leader to hold a team together, not some coach who is “laid back.”

Owens burns bridges left and right, he’s probably better at that than he is at dropping catching the ball. I guess I just thought that maybe he would have learned some class and to not shift the blame everywhere else by now. I don’t quite know why I expected that, probably because I haven’t heard from him in a few months. But as usual, Owens dropped the ball on this one.

Tribute Video: Owens and Johnson

Posted by kevin on February 9, 2007

The tribute video for today takes on not just one, but two of the NFL’s best wide receivers. They are of course, also two of the biggest a-holes in the NFL. That’s right, this one details Chad Johnson and Terrell Owens, specifically their celebrations. He targets these acts of idiocy and brings them into a hilarious light. Enjoy.

Shut it T.O.

Terrell Owens sucksAfter the Cowboys latest shameful display in front of a national audience, Terrell Owens decided to run his mouth yet again. In regards to his involvement in the offense, TO provided us with this great insight into his sufferings.

“Everybody knows that’s what I do. Every team that I’ve played on, I’ve been involved early and often. It’s hard to get in the flow when you’re getting a ball here, a ball there.”

Really TO? Maybe the reason you are getting a ball here and a ball there is because you cant catch the ball. Nice drop on that deep ball that Tony Romo put right in your bread basket and you let it fall to the turf. Or maybe the reason that you aren’t getting balls thrown your way is because, as you reminded everyone in the media, you don’t give 100% on every play. Nice move Randy Moss.

The reason I have tried to lobby support for TO over his past few seasons despite his valiant attempts to annoy me is because of his ability as a receiver. Up until this year, he was easily a top 5 receiver in the league, if not one of the two best. This year, however, has been a different story. Yes, he leads the league in touchdowns. Before you start waving your finger at me over that, lets look at who also leads the league in drops. TO.

The Dallas Cowboys are on the verge of one of the best and most comical collapses I have seen in recent history. The self-implosion of that team on Christmas Day is going to be a catalyst for a very interesting next few weeks, starting with Owens. I picked these same Cowboys to win the NFC East, and, up until 4 weeks ago, i was right on. The Cowboys are now proving to me, however, that they are nothing more than a mediocre football team and that Terrell Owens is possibly the most overrated and idiotic player in the league.

Terrell Has Really Outdone Himself

Posted by kevin on December 19, 2006

Seriously, spitting on someone? Come on Terrell, you may be a team cancer, and an annoyance, but you’re better than that, aren’t you? You really have to be a despicable human being to spit in the face of someone. I mean really, its almost unbelievable.

Look at the past two players who have been involved in spitting in the face of an opponent. Bill Romanowski and Sean Taylor are just two names that come to mind. Those are obviously two people you want to model yourself after. A racist steroid user, and a guy who is working up a great legal record. And now Terrell Owens is following in their footsteps and getting fined $35,000 because of it. I enjoyed his explanation that it was an accident. How the hell is spitting on someone an accident? Do you miss where you’re aiming?

Then came the admission that he was frustrated and that he apologized after he spit in DeAngelo Hall’s face. I don’t give a damn how frustrated you are, you simply don’t spit in the face of someone else. It’s dehumanizing and just flat out stupid. Owens is lucky that Hall didn’t just break his leg. If I were in his situation it probably would have been that at minimum. If someone spits on someone else in everyday life there is a guaranteed ass beating to come.

I dislike Owens, and for as annoying, stupid, and distracting as he is I thought he was a decent human being. I guess I thought wrong. This is even more incentive for me to hate him. I wish Owens was suspended for this because it really is an embarrassment to him, to his team, and to the entire NFL.
