The roundup on the newest soccer jerseys in Europe will conclude today with a preview of the fresh new jerseys from the Italian Serie A. It has become almost a ritual for club teams to get a new jersey every year, making it harder for fans to keep up with the new styles. I featured the new English Premiership jerseys and Spanish La Liga shirts during the past couple of weeks. But this week, our focus will be on the new jerseys of AC Milan, Inter Milan, AS Roma and Juventus.
Beginning with the current Serie A champions, Inter Milan will have new home and away jerseys this year. The home kit features the traditional black and blue stripes, but the new away jersey (right) is where it’s at. You are probably thinking why the new Inter away shirt has a huge British flag smacked on it? However the red cross is reflective upon the coat of arms for the city of Milan.
Staying in the same stadium but moving to Inter’s rivals, AC Milan have also added a pair of unique kits. The new away jersey remains similar to last year’s, but there is no design going down the side of the shirt. The new home shirt, on the other hand, includes the traditional red and black stripes. But this year, the stripes are much thinner when you compare them to last year’s. From the stands, it will not look like AC Milan have a totally different style but up close, it is easy to see the smaller stripes.
Coppa Italia winners from last year, AS Roma will also have some new shirts this season. Roma’s new shirt will feature the Italian bullseye, worn by the team that won the Coppa Italia the previous year. The new kit, which is made by kappa, will feature the signature logo on the sleeves. A promotion back to Serie A warrants new jerseys in Turin this year. That’s right, Juventus will be adding some new jerseys to their wardrobe this season. The new home jersey will have thicker stripes from last year’s version and the club will also sport a blue and yellow alternate. In addition, Juventus will also continue to wear their black away jersey this year.

In my opinion, MVP’s should be treated like VIP’s. In LaDainian Tomlinson’s case, he is being treated to everything and more. Nike unleashed the Air Zoom Assassin this past week in his name. LT will wear the shoe every time he steps out onto the field this season as he will try to lead his team to a Super Bowl.
The design of Tomlinson’s new show is not flashy at all. The shoe has a simple blue touch on the back heel section, with a plain white finish to polish the edge towards the front. The non-flashy design and simple touch can not only be observed on the shoe, but with Tomlinson himself. The NFL’s MVP gets the job done every Sunday by making everything look easy. LT doesn’t talk trash because he let’s his game speak for himself, unlike many of the games’ flamboyant players.
All in all, I truly believe that the shoe reflects Tomlinson perfectly. The shoe can be purchased in four different colors at the moment: Navy blue, red and white, black and white, and all black. Plus, Nike’s marketing branch has produced one of the best commercials ever by highlighting the shoe and the superstar it was made for. Enjoy!

As the football season inches closer, it’s time to lace up the cleats for another exciting season. After thinking about which shoes would fit me as I fly down the sidelines(In my dreams of course), I chose to go with Reggie Bush’s new RB619 TUNIT cleat from Adidas. Reggie Bush and Adidas teamed up well in 2006 and the 2007 edition is surely going to be a hit.
The first thing that jumps out at me from the shoe is, of course, the gold etched around. Adidas and Bush could have really overdosed on the color, but the subtle look fits nice. The colors of the shoe are also based around the color scheme of the New Orleans Saints logo. The trim towards the front of the shoe also has a touch of gold that continues underneath the shoe.
While using the gold and black colors, Adidas formed a sharp and edgy look to represent Reggie’s performance. The Adidas trefoil has its usual tilt, but it doesn’t focus solely on the logo like other shoes. Aside from the laces, Adidas has given Reggie a Velcro strap to tighten up any loose ends. The end of the strap is finished with Reggie’s signature to add a nice touch.
I must say that I have been a big fan of Nike cleats my entire life. I never liked what Adidas put out there as far as athletic cleats went. But now with the RB619 TUNIT unveiling, my opinion has changed. The usage of gold on shoes is very touchy, but I felt Adidas used the right amount when designing the 619. An A+ design for an A+ athlete. The RB619 TUNIT can be purchased at shopadidas.com if you’re planning any trips to the endzone this fall.

With David Beckham arriving into town just hours from now, the L.A. Galaxy and Adidas took it upon themselves to add a little bit of an extra spice to Beck’s landing at the Home Depot Center tomorrow. The Galaxy, who are nearly halfway done with their 2007 season have unveiled a spanking new logo and uniforms that will most likely fly off shelves quickly. The Galaxy will debut the jerseys on Saturday July 21st when they take on Chelsea in L.A.

The new Galaxy logo features a “Quasar” embedded on a shield and already looks a hundred times better than the newly crowned old logo. L.A. Galaxy President and G.M. Alexi Lalas takes pride in the jersey saying, “Our crest shows a Quasar shining brightly in a deep blue California sky. It illuminates the initials “LA”, used globally to refer to our City of Angels. The color gold honors the Galaxy’s proud history and tradition in the Golden State.”
I probably should begin by describing the new home jersey, but I have fallen in love with the away uni. Following an Adidas template the Galaxy choose a splendid midnight blue for the main color and then used gold for the lining of the Adidas trefoil and the rest of the jersey. The Galaxy have also added a new sponsor in Herbalife as the logo will appear on the center of the jersey.
I told you my favorite jersey of the two was the away one, but Alexi Lalas finds the home jersey to his liking. Lalas describes, “We wanted a classic and clean look that would stand the test of time, something that generations of players and fans would wear with pride on and off the field.” I completely agree with Lalas here as he talks about the sharp and clean look that the Galxy will hit the field with now. The main color of the home thread is of course white with the Adidas trefoil in midnight blue. The lining on the sides of the jersey is again the gold used in the Galaxy logo/crest. The Galaxy will also be adding two stars to the top of the logo representing the two MLS Cup Championships that they have won.
All in all I really do like the new image of the L.A. Galaxy. With Beckham arriving everyone would have figured that the Galaxy get some new uni’s for their new superstar. The Galaxy jerseys have already hit stores in L.A., but if you can’t make your way out to the “City of Angels” you can grab all the new Galaxy gear at soccer.com
