Evidently an apology was all that was needed for Ron Artest to get back onto the court. Just days after allegedly beating his wife, who allegedly took a frying pan to his new Hummer, Artest made a tearful apology in a press conference. And just like that, Artest was allowed to rejoin the team.
I’m not saying this is right or wrong, it just seems like its a pretty easy way to end an indefinite suspension. Did the Maloof brothers just tell him “Just say you’re sorry, and it will all be good.” And why did it take so long for Artest decide that he was actually sorry if this was the case? Oh let me think for a few days about whether I’m sorry for beating the crap out of my wife.
She shouldn’t have taken a cooking object to his car, and he shouldn’t have retaliated in the way that he did, but based off that situation, this apology isn’t enough. There are obvious anger problems on both sides, and they should probably be addressed via counseling. Artest says he took a step back as a father and a husband, I say he took a step back as a human being.

Would you be shocked if i told you that Ron Artest got arrested again? Well, he did and, surprise surprise, it was for domestic violence. What? Ron Artest being violent? No, I’ve never heard of such a thing. Oh I forgot about destroying video cameras at Madison Square Garden in 2003, getting into it with Pat Riley in 2004, and of course the brawl at the Palace in Detroit.
Get Ron Artest out of the league, now. Baseball has their three strikes rule for steroids, the NFL is about to enact a conduct code, and it’s time for David Stern to step up and make the “Ron ‘Im a real jack ass’ Artest rule”. Here’s a guy who, during his rookie season, applied for a job at Circuit City just so he could get the employee discount. The fact that he can play solid defense and occasionally hit some shots is overshadowed by the fact that he hits more women than three pointers and that he is simply a trouble maker. Every time he gets arrested, what’s left of his image is further tarnished and the bad boy gangster image of the NBA is only strengthened. To Ron Artest, the NBA is less important than a month off to promote his rap album. To me, Ron Artest isn’t important at all and he shouldn’t be part of the league. True Warrior, Ron? How about True Dumbass.

I could have sworn Artest had made a return trip to the Palace at Auburn Hills since fighting half of the metropolitan area of Detroit. Apparently not. The reason you hadn’t heard much about it is because the brawl was over two years ago. It’s hard to forget but it’s still over two years old. Artest scored 14 points but the Pistons rolled 91-74. Because Artest’s return to Detroit isn’t that relevant, I’ve decided to just show a clip of that infamous brawl a couple of years ago. Bill Walton does not sound pleased.
