On what appears to be a slow day (and one where we haven’t had much time to write), I bring you this video from Deadspin. This was taken a couple weeks back at what appears to be a St. Louis Cardinals game. I love how the guy has a huge buffer area to show off these skills.

Dancing With the Stars kicked off last night, and there are three athletes who are looking to become the next Emmitt Smith and take home the title. Laila Ali, Apolo Anton Ohno, and Clyde Drexler are all involved in this season of Dancing With the Stars and all of them are looking to win. Of course, I have my thoughts on who probably has the biggest advantage over the others and I will break down the chances these three have with no intention of watching the show.
Laila Ali. I’m going to go ahead and place Ali as my favorite. She has the boxing experience and we know that boxers have to have quick feet. Plus, if things go wrong, she can simply beat the hell out of anyone who stands in her way.
Clyde Drexler. I have a feeling the big man is going to struggle. He’ll be head and shoulders above his partner and that could make for some awkward dancing. Like Ali, he has to have quick feet, but not quite to the extent that she does, and because he’s been out of the league for a few years he may have lost a step or two.
Apollo Anton Ohno. I have a hard time even considering Oho in the same class as Ali and Clyde the Glide, but I have to. We know he lost the Korean vote after his episode at the Olympics a few years back. I can’t imagine that he will have the moves that Laila and Clyde will, so I predict Ohno will finish in third out of these three.
Of course, a person like me probably has no right to judge these three people on their dancing skills. When you take into account that I haven’t seen them dance, nor do I plan on seeing them dance, the predictions become even less probable. But it will be fun to see how closely I can predict based upon their respective sports and talent.

You’ve come to expect a random YouTube clip every morning. Sometimes, it’s Ultimate Warrior speaking in tongues. Other times, it’s Tony Romo singing “Don’t Stop Believin.” You don’t really know what to expect, which is why I can post this video and somehow get away with it. Because we already have a dancing category in place, “Flea Market Montgomery” is acceptable. It’s funny as hell. If I’m ever in the city of Montgomery, I’ll definitely check this flea market/mini mall out.

It turns out Emmitt Smith isn’t the only former athlete who wants to try his hand at dancing. Clyde Drexler was announced today as one of the contestants for the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars. Will Clyde be able to live up to the standard that Emmitt set before him? Or will he fall flat on his face? We’ll just have to watch (or for most of us, not watch) and see.
Personally I can’t really picture seeing Clyde the Glide dancing the salsa, and maybe that’s because hes a solid 6′7″. Emmitt was only 5′9″ so how is Clyde’s partner going to be able to handle that extra ten inches? It could be awkward, and hopefully it’ll be hilarious.
While there is a 90% chance I won’t be watching a single episode of this show, that 10% chance remains out there solely because Drexler is in it. I have to give credit to the creators of this show, they find ways to make the show tolerable for most sports fans. Those people watching Clyde when he appears on the show will probably be wishing they were watching this instead of him dancing.
Instead of seeing Clyde dunk all over everyone again, we’ll have to be content to watch him try his hand at the Salsa and the Tango. Maybe he’ll bring some Phi Slamma Jamma to Dancing With the Stars. Or maybe he’ll just get booted in the first week, I personally can’t wait for the Sportscenter coverage.
