Sportable was launched in October 2006 by a group of friends that loved ranting about sports. Frustrated by ESPN’s stranglehold on East Coast storylines, the site serves as a slightly different perspective about the games we love.

Since being launched, Sportable has been linked by the likes of Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard, ESPN’s True Hoop, ESPN’s Hashmarks and AOL’s Fanhouse.

We wanted Sportable to serve as more than just a commentary website. Since launch, we’ve recorded videos and podcasts. We even had a two-week stint on the show Fanarchy on the Versus Network, an opportunity for us as real fans to rant about sports. Perhaps our finest work was the Michael Phelps eating challenge, which culminated in two of the three competitors bowing to the porcelain God.

These days, Sportable is down to two writers, Ryan and Rich. For the sake of our sanity and for the benefit of our readers, we’ve decided to take a different angle with the site.

We’re proud to introduce more parodies to the site as well as half-ass photoshop efforts. We feel that our wit and humor has plenty to offer and a satirical approach is undoubtedly the best way to showcase it.
