The Seattle Times is reporting that a deal between Ken Griffey Jr and the Mariners is imminent. All I can say about this is….hell yeah. Spring Training hasn’t even started yet and we already have our feel good story of the season and rightfully so; what’s not to like about this story? Amidst all the steroids talk that has arisen in the past week and a half, it’s about time we get some good news. Griffey epitomized class; a guy who played the game the way it was meant to be played. I think I speak for a lot of people who look back on the Mariners teams of the mid-90’s and their adornment with Griffey Son when I say that I wish him all the best in Seattle in 2009. They might not be that good and, well, they will probably finish last again. But that’s not the point because they got Junior back and that’s all that really matters. Now…if he can only stay healthy.
