Wow, what a weekend of conference championship football that was. And what a Super Bowl we have! In one corner, Kurt Warner, a man who you can’t help but root for. The Cinderella Arizona Cardinals are in the Super Bowl, but they’ll have a stern test in the Pittsburgh Steelers. Get ready, Kurt. With two weeks to gameplan, we can be assured that defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau is going to DIAL IT UP and GET AFTER Warner.
The Steelers are going for their 6th Super Bowl championship. You know what that means? That those rings won 30 years ago will undoubtably help them against the Cardinals and Warner, who have NEVER played in a BIG GAME like this one. Nevermind the fact that this is Warner’s third Super Bowl, my point stands. How is Larry Fitzgerald going to get open when LeBeau decides to BRING THE HEAT on Warner? This ain’t the Big East, SON! It’ the SUPER BOWL!Â
For the last week, I promised viewers that Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson would FLIP THE SWITCH and UNLEASH THE FURY on Warner. How did he respond? Well, considering he makes the quickest reads of any quarterback in football and considering his decision making is superior to any quarterback in the playoffs, he did well. But THIS IS DIFFERENT. This is DICK LEBEAU’S DEFENSE. You know what Dick Lebeau likes to do? That’s right, BRING NINE.
So let the hype begin, it’s going to be a fun two weeks of rehashing old storylines and breaking down an early-season 2007 matchup between the teams. Listen, I love me some Kurt Warner. I love his leadership and his undying faith. But in two weeks time, he’s going to wish he was back BAGGING GROCERIES because LeBeau and Steelers are going to unleash TEN PLAGUES all over Warner. I like the STEELERS. BIG.Â
