Sportable Pick ‘Em 2008: Week 4

Posted by ryan on September 27, 2008

Standings
Ryan: 26-19-1

Sonny: 23-22-1
Rich: 22-23-1
Kevin: 21-24-1

Ryan: Broncos -10 over Chiefs. I’m aware that this is a heated rivalry and that the Chiefs want nothing better than to upset the Donks. I also don’t care. The Broncos’ defense may be awful, but so is Kansas City’s offense. Meanwhile, Jay Cutler and Co. are clicking on all cylinders. It’s a big spread, but the Chiefs are really that bad.
Ri: Donks -10 over Chiefs.
Kevin: Broncos -10 over Chiefs.

Sonny: Broncos -10 over Chiefs.

Ryan: Browns +3.5 over Bungals. In a game this bad, just give me the points and I’ll be on my way. Think there’s some pressure on Derek Anderson? Any bad throw could signal the end of his time as starting quarterback.
Ri: Bengals -3.5 over Browns.
K: Bengals -3.5 over Browns.

S: Browns +3.5 over Bungals.

Ryan: Jags -7 over Texans. For the first time all season, I saw Jaguars football last Sunday. They ran the ball effectively, giving David Garrard the ability to take some shots downfield. Look for them to keep the good times rolling against a Texans team still finding their way in 2008.
Ri: Jags -7 over Texans.
K: Texans +7 over Jags.

S: Jags -7 over Texans.

Ryan: Cardinals +1 over Jet Favre. The Cards have stayed on the East Coast all week, meaning they should be accustomed to the time difference. Think Brett Favre is having any regrets now? If he doesn’t now, he will after the Cardinals leave Jersey with a win.
Ri: Cardinals +1 over Bretty and the Jets.
K: Cardinals +1 over Jets.

S: Cardinals +1 over Jets.

Ri: Saints -5 over Niners. I’m not fooled by the Niners 2-1 record and the Saints 1-2 record.  One team has played against quality opponents, the other hasn’t.  Until Patrick Willis starts beating my ass in my nightmares, I’ll continue to pick against the 49ers.
Ry: Saints -5 over Niners.
K: Saints -5 over Niners.

S: Saints -5 over Niners.

Ri: Panthers -7 over Atlanta. Something just didn’t seem right with this Carolina offense last week.  Maybe it was because Jake Delhomme was having one of his patented games where he gets his ass kicked for four quarters and can’t compose himself for long enough to complete a pass.  Atlanta doesn’t get after it like the Vikings do, so I expect Delhomme to have a better day.  Jon Beason is about to make Matt Ryan his bitch.
Ry: Panthers -7 over Dirty Birds.
K: Panthers -7 over Falcons.

S: Panthers -7 over Falcons.

Ri: Jack Daniels -3 over Vikings. Pound for pound the Tennessee Titans are taking it to every team they face.  That’ll create problems for a soft team like the Vikings, especially with the fossil of Gus Frerotte behind center.
Ry: Kerry -3 over Gus.
K: Titans -3 over Vikings.

S: Titans -3 over Vikings.

Ri: Bills -8 over Rams. No, not this week.  I am not falling for your gimmicks anymore Scott Linehan.  You’ve broken my heart one time too many.
Ry: Buffalo University -8 over St. Louis Freds.
K: Bills -8 over Rams.

S: Bills -8 over Rams.

K: Green Bay +1 over Tampa Bay: I can’t quite figure this game out.  The Packers have looked good minus their slip up against a very good Dallas team last week.  The Bucs have also been playing really well, but I can’t bring myself to take them.  I think Green Bay wins this simply because they have more talent.
Ry: Bucs -1 over Packers.
Ri: Sunny Bay -1 over Cold Bay.
S: Green Bay +1 over Tampa Bay.

K: Chargers -8 over Raiders. The Raiders ship is going nowhere until Al Davis kicks the bucket.  I don’t care that they kept it close against the Bills last week.  The Chargers have beat the Raiders in something like 10 straight games, I fully expect that streak to continue
Ry: Chargers -8 over Raider Nation.
Ri: LaDainian Tomlinson -8 over Raiders.
S: Chargers -8 over Raiders.

K: Skins +11 over Cowboys. 11 points is a lot to be giving in an NFC East matchup.  I like the Skins to keep this one close.
Ri: How ’bout dem Cowboys -11 over Redskins.
Ry: Skins +11 over Cowboys.
S: Cowboys -11 over Skins.

K: Eagles -3 over Bears. If this Eagles defense can get after Orton like they did Big Ben last week then it is going to be a miserable day for Bears fans.
Ri: Eagles -3 over Bears.
Ry: Eagles -3 over Bears.
S: Eagles -3 over Bears.

K: Steelers -6 over Ravens. The Steelers don’t want to get embarrassed again, and I still can’t believe Joe Flacco has this team at 2-0.  They’re going to get tested this week though.
Ri: Steelers -6 over Ravens.
Ry: Steelers -6 over Ravens.
S: Steelers -6 over Ravens.
