Sonny’s Stlye Watch: Braves Add Road Uni and Cap

Posted by sonny on April 10, 2008

The Atlanta Braves have decided to mix things up a bit when traveling on the road this year. They will sport a new alternate uniform and cap. The Braves kept the new look quiet until Opening Night in Washington D.C last week. But since then, fans and players alike have welcomed the additions. The Braves made the call on the navy blue caps and jerseys for the first time since 1969. From 1966-1969 the Braves wore the same jersey and hat only during away games.

Beginning with the jersey, I must say the navy blue script which is outlined in white on the blue jersey really looks nice. The uni looks exactly the same as the current road grey with the tomahawk and everything, just with a different color scheme. The Braves haven’t worn a dark jersey in years except for in batting practice, so it is nice to see something different when they take the field.

The new hat is an exact replica of the current home cap, only without the traditional red bill. Throughout the Braves existence, they have always sported a clean look. Sharp unis with subtle hat have always been their trademark. This throwback hat is exactly that. The clean-cut look will be seen on the road, but I would also like to see the Braves wear the hat at Turner Field.

All in all you can’t complain if you are a fan of the Braves. The additions are fantastic and I can only imagine that they’re flying off shelves everywhere. The new additions leaves the Braves with three different hats and a total of four jerseys. The Braves haven’t said whether they will keep the unis around for years to come, but I think it’d be a great idea
