Emmit Smith. Jerry Rice. Mark Cuban. Helio Castroneves. What do these guys all have in common? They all cut the rug on the popular TV show, Dancing with the Stars. Go ahead and add Jason Taylor to that list. Taylor, who is still currently playing for the Dolphins but clearly has other things on his mind, has agreed to be part of the new season.
Immediately after finding out about this, I began to wonder what Taylor’s motivation for joining the show was. Is he just warming up for an inevitable role as King Xerxes in the 300 musical? Is he just showing his other Dolphins teammates that he can not only play football (which a lot of the guys on the team can’t do anyways, 1-15 LOLphins) but can also break off a dance move or two? Or is he trying to start a new wave of offseason training in spite of the Tuna’s new off-season regiment?
Will I inevitably tune in to watch Taylor twirl and fling himself around in an excessively flamboyant outfit? Hell yeah. There’s nothing that amuses me more than athletes making a mockery of their image. Taylor doesn’t need the extra time in the gym, he’s locked in for a Pro Bowl season regardless. So while all the other Dolphins figure out how to bring home more than one win next season, Jason Taylor will be figuring out how to salsa and cha-cha slide.
