Tell Sportable: Who are Your Fantasy Football Sleepers?

deveryhenderson.jpgLet’s be honest, we all want LaDainian Tomlinson on our team. But only one bastard is going to be lucky enough to land LT with the top choice in the draft. For the rest of us, we’re going to need all the help we can get. In many leagues, the guys drafted in the 10th or 11th rounds will make more a difference than the guy we take in the 1st round. Here are five of my sleepers.

Tell Sportable: Who are your Fantasy Football sleepers?

Devery Henderson: With Joe Horn now in Atlanta, look for the production of other Saints receivers to increase. Henderson had 32 catches last year and showed some incredible big-play ability that made it easier for the Saints to part with Horn. Eight of Henderson’s receptions went for 40 yards or more. His average of 23.3 yards a catch was the best in the NFL by a full four yards.

Jerious Norwood: It’s anybodys guess as to what will happen with the Atlanta Falcons’ offense. Michael Vick is likely going to jail and Warrick Dunn’s back injury is reducing his role. That leaves Norwood, who carried the ball 99 times in his rookie season. His average of 6.4 yards is one of the few bright spots in the ATL these days. Norwood should be worth a late-round selection, especially if the uninformed owner in your league snatches up Dunn.

Matt Leinart: The second-year quarterback seems to have all the ingredients required for success. He plays in a division, the NFC West, where defensive dominance takes a backseat to offensive production. He has a pair of All-Pro receivers in Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald. But more importantly, he’ll have an improved offensive line. The line should do a better job of helping Edgerrin James, which will help Leinart greatly.

Packers Defense: This is a promising, promising unit. A slow start was the only thing keeping this defense from being one of the best in all of fantasy football. In their last four games, they allowed just 42 points. Their interception (23) and sack (46) totals were both ranked in the top five. There’s plenty of pass-rushers, a couple great linebackers, and a solid secondary. While owners reach for Chicago and Baltimore earlier than they should, keep this choice in the back of your mind. Playing against Rex Grossman, Jon Kitna, and Tavaris Jackson should help as well.

Malcom Floyd: Most fantasy football owners know about the sleeper status of fellow Chargers receiver Vincent Jackson. However, Floyd has been wowing everybody in training camp. With Eric Parker’s injury, Floyd is expected to open the season as one of the top two receivers for San Diego. The 6′5 receiver has put on 20 pounds in the offseason and is expected to be a huge redzone threat. Floyd had three touchdown catches in 2006.
