Sonny’s StyleWatch: Hello My Name is…
Posted by sonny on June 21, 2007
Here at Sportable, we take our head-ware fashion seriously. We want our readers to feel comfortable and safe with each and every purchase they make. In other words, we’ll let you know if your new lid sucks or not. This week however, we bring to you the newest addition to the hat community, the “Hello My Name Is…” cap.
Upon first glance, the New Era cap seemed useless to me. The hat’s design is pretty self explanatory. All you have to do is get a sharpie and fill in the rest. Staring at the screen, I tried to come up with some reasons as to why someone on this earth would waste $30.00 of hard earned money on this cap. After a few tries, I was able to reason with some quality examples:
- This is a great hat for the first day of school or for your first day at work.
- If you’re an identical twin, purchase two. One for yourself and the other for your clone so your parents can tell you apart.
Now I know some clown out there has already made a purchase. But I would be willing to bet he did it because he was trying to be a total smart ass. The only bad part about this hat, other than itself, is that you can only use a sharpie or some other permanent marker to fill in your name. After that, you’re stuck with whatever name you filled in.
New Era has created five different “Hello my name is…” hats with various colors to each. For the price of $30.00 and a Sharpie, you can try to amuse your friends by ordering one. In the end, I don’t expect to see more than ten people in my lifetime wearing this hat. I’ll go ahead and say it’s unique. But it’s also extremely questionable at the same time.

The whole of point of this hat is that people with graf or tag names can show off their art on it. In stores like “Styles” or “Lids” you can get names or tag names embroided on the them making them as creative or as simple as you want but always unique. The “hello my name is” sticker has always been a simple get your tag known by sticking them on walls.
