If Americans Don’t Like Soccer After This, They Never Will

Here at Sportable, we like to discuss the various promotions that are held to try and draw fans to the stadium. The Dodgers recently converted the right field bleachers into an all-you-can-eat buffet, while the minor league Brooklyn Cyclones played baseball for 24 hours straight. But neither of those can compete with Miami FC of the U.S. Soccer League, who are giving away free beer to those in attendance.
Miller Lite is providing FREE BEER throughout both nights (while supplies last) to fans 21 years old and over and noise sticks to everyone as they enter the stadium. It will be an experience for the entire family unlike any other found in South Florida.
That couldn’t be a larger understatement. Before I assess the potential problems of this idea, let me tell you how great it is. You’re getting drunk for free. Imagine the life lessons you can teach your kids at this one. “Mommy, why is that man urinating in the bleachers?” “Daddy, why is that guy making out with that fat woman?” There’s zero restrictions to this promotion. As long as you have a pulse, you’ll get a free cup of beer.
Miami FC doesn’t attact huge crowds to their matches but if word gets out about this promotion, I think they can draw record numbers. Sportable has received free media passes to some pretty cool events: Bowl games, rugby tournaments, and this week’s Gold Cup action. But none of those can compete with a night on the town courtesy Miami FC. Let’s hope they have enough security because this is going to be a sloppy, drunken mess.
