Al Stokke has an Amazing Track Record Himself

I think everyone is familiar with the current Allison Stokke controversy by now. What most people don’t know is that Allison’s father, Al Stokke, has an interesting record. Al Stokke is a criminal defense lawyer and as happens with people in that line of work, has to defend some sketchy people. However, in light of his defense of his daughter, some of his defense tactics in the court room seem very questionable.

Earlier this year, Stokke was defending an Irvine police officer who had reportedly ejaculated on a motorist at a routine morning traffic stop. Stokke argued that the woman, who happened to be a stripper, brought the actions upon herself.

?She got what she wanted,? said Stokke. ?She?s an overtly sexual person.?

I find this argument about as logical as the people who say that women invite rape upon themselves.

Speaking of rape, Stokke was defending people accused of gang raping a female. The victim claimed mental anguish as a result of the gang raping. Stokke promptly put down the victim, and questioned her claims.

Stokke also mocked the girl?s physical injuries, finally conceding she was unconscious but then trying to use that against her. ?There?s [no pain] that is felt,? he said, ?because she was unconscious.?

I don’t know if I have ever heard anything that ridiculous in my entire life. Stokke’s argument is inane, and just plain wrong.

To cap things off, in 2006 Al Stokke was defending a female teacher who was accused of molesting underage children. The woman was accused of having sex with children as young as eleven years old. Stokke’s brilliant claim to try to lessen the sentence for his client was as follows:

“Where was she when I was 13?”

Now Stokke is coming out firing on all cylinders to defend his daughter from the attention she’s gotten online. With the Stokke name now commonly known on the Internet, he is crying to the Washington Post. Stokke can somehow, in his conscience, find a way to defend unsolicited ejaculation, gang rape, and molestation of an 11 year old. However, once things get within his own family, all rules are thrown out the window.

It isn’t that I could do a better job as a lawyer than Stokke (though some of these claims make me think otherwise). It’s the fact that he can take such a different stance on such similar issues. I have some sympathy for Allison for getting all of the “unwanted” attention, but unfortunately, none of that sympathy is being directed towards Al.

Props to feministing for finding some of this information.
