The Kentucky Derby brought all kinds of celebrities to Louisville this past weekend, most notably Queen Elizabeth. But another person was there, one with slightly less popularity than the Queen: OJ Simpson. Simpson and his friends went to Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse to write a book about the hypothetical killings eat dinner the night before the derby. That was their intention anyway. Simpson and his party were thrown out of the steakhouse by the owner.
?I didn?t want to serve him because of my convictions of what he?s done to those families,? Jeff Ruby said in a telephone interview Tuesday. ?The way he continues to torture the lives of those families … with his behavior, attitude and conduct.?
You have to wonder how many times this has happened. The owner of the steakhouse explained that the attention Simpson gets “makes him sick to his stomach.” Ruby deserves credit in this situation, not many people would confront Simpson inva restaurant filled with steak knives.
The owner said that Simpson was polite after being asked to leave and did not cause a scene. Simpson’s lawyer has already come out and suggested racism, adding that Ruby “screwed with the wrong guy.” If you’re representing someone as infamous as Simpson, couldn’t you choose your words a bit better? With steak out of the picture, Simpson and Co. went back to Churchill Downs and feasted on a large Clydesdale.
