Posted by sonny on May 3, 2007There is not a day that goes by in my life where I don’t walk out of my house with a New Era Cap on. I could possibly add a new lid to my collection very soon if I decide to purchase the new MLB Moonman hat. Upon first glance, I jumped on the design and thought it was really cool. Since then, I have come to my senses and held back.
When a couple of my friends saw the “piece of art”, they thought it was something that MTV came out with. Of course I’m referring to the MTV Award, the moon man. The astronaut on the hat is fully equipped with a chain that rap artist Jibbs would be jealous of. The moon man also carries a boombox which, if I had to guess, would be set to “Make it Rain.”
On the other side of the hat, there is a flag neatly propped up with a few MLB logos on it. The teams that are included are the Yankees, Red Sox, and Cubs. There are also hats available for the Braves, Tigers, and for whatever reason, the Rangers. I’m not sure why New Era doesn’t create caps for all MLB teams, but there might be some valid reasons. First off, the Kansas City Royals have no business in the dugouts of MLB stadiums, let alone the moon. Secondly, could you imagine the Pirates’ logo on one of the flags? The Bucs travel by sea, not by spacecraft.
The Moon Man Hat does not come with my favorite team so I will have to pass on the purchase for the time being. I think the cap has some potential but it may land towards the bottom of consumer’s lists right now. I told you what I think about it, now leave us a comment and tell us whether you like it enough to make an investment.

i like it. at first i hated this hat, but the more i look at it the more i like it. its one of those hats that grows on you. its a pretty sweet idea

thats exactly what i was thinking, and the reflection on his visor looks like an elephant. maybe if his chain was silver it would look better.

Like Rich said, it has grown on me. But as far as making a $35.00 purchase; i’ll pass.
