nhl-93-screens.jpgUSC Song Girls Take It Off for Charity [The Wizard of Odds]: When the USC Song Girls aren’t cheering for the wrong team, they’re throwing fantastic charity events like this. This event appeared to be a real success. USC’s Pete Carroll showed up and swam with alum Will Ferrell. Unfortunately, Ferrell felt the need to strip down to a Speedo in the process.

Chicago’s Global Perception and the 2016 Summer Olympics [Frank The Tank's Slant]: With Chicago seizing the U.S. bid for the Summer Games, several blogs have sounded off on what it would do for the city. On one hand, some cities like Montreal have struggled to pay off their Olympic debts. Others, Munich and Atlanta, dealt with terrorism. But cities like Barcelona and (hopefully) Chicago have used the games to boost tourism for years to come.

Atlanta’s Sports Fans Don’t Suck…You Do [Sports Gone South]: I’d always be outraged at the fact that the Atlanta Braves would fail to sell out playoff games. But this blog has a good point about most southern cities being more attracted to college sports. The Thrashers managed to come through nicely with two sellouts in the NHL Playoffs. There’s very good points made here.

EA Saves The Day [The Ghosts of Wayne Fontes]: This blog has a great reason for the NHL’s struggle: a lack of great NHL video games. I remember the classics like NHL 93 by EA Sports and that definitely increased my interest in hockey. NCAA Football games also really piqued my interest in college football.

Top Ten Gruesome Sports Injuries [Sportscolumn Blog]: If you’re not squeamish enough, take a look at this compilation. It’s definitely brutal and not for the faint of heart. But there’s some classics on here. Holyfield’s ear getting chomped, Theismann’s leg injury, and that skate incident.

So Long, and Thanks for all the Racial Equality [The Dugout]: Word has gone out that Nick, one of the minds behind this excellent blog, attends Virginia Tech and lives in the dorms where today’s tragedy started. Our thoughts are with Nick (who is okay) the rest of his fellow Hokies.
