After the entire episode with Schrutebag, formerly Colin Cowherd, I think most of us were ready to move on. Well now I’m not. ESPN offered their standard company line of an apology, but to be honest, I’m really not buying it.
ESPN apologized for the antics, if you can even call them that, of Schrutebag. But really, how is an apology going to prevent him from doing the same thing again? ESPN said that they now have a zero tolerance policy about things like this on their airwaves, but the problem is, this zero tolerance policy isn’t retroactive. That means that Schrutebag gets out of this mess without even a slap on the wrist. I haven’t even heard an apology from him, and really, I don’t expect one, that’s how big of a dick he has proved himself to be.
ESPN apologized but that just isn’t enough. The guy intentionally crashed a site out of malice, that ruins the trust of everyone. The least that ESPN could do is suspend his show for the same amount of time (two days). It should go without saying that things like this are not acceptable and Schrutebag should be suspended, if not fired. He won’t be, because somehow he earns ratings and ratings equal money. Considering that’s all anyone cares about, Schrutebag essentially has free rein to do whatever he wants.
