College Hoops 2K7 Previews The Western Region
Posted by ryan on March 13, 2007
Using College Hoops 2K7, I’ve decided to simulate through the entire NCAA tournament. While this will be used for little besides a fun simulation, it will be interesting to see the results. If you’re in the market for a college hoops game, we recommend this one. The review for the game can be found here.

Well, this idea went to hell quickly. I assumed there would be upsets. But I didn’t think there would be five in the first round. I really didn’t think we would see a 7, 9, 12, and 14 seed in the Sweet 16 either. Indiana took the region with a blowout win over Villanova. The Hoosiers got double digit scoring from five players in the regional final against Nova.
Both Villanova and Indiana had to knock down powerhouses to reach the Elite Eight. Nova got 38 points from their great backcourt of Mike Nardi and freshman Scottie Reynolds in the win over Kansas. Indiana’s win over UCLA would have been a hideous one to watch, as just 100 points were scored between the teams. No Hoosier reached double figures but apparently, Kelvin Sampson teaches defense as well as he breaks recruiting rules. UCLA shot a hideous 29% from the field.
Maybe this is an anomaly. Or maybe this game doesn’t know what the hell it’s doing when it comes to picking games. Either way, I wouldn’t wager any money on what this game thinks. I’m not going to abandon this idea but I’ve definitely lost some confidence in it.

If the Buckeyes and Spartans emerge from their regions in tomorrow’s previews, I’m throwing something through my TV. Big Ten basketball is excruciating.

I don’t know dude. The Spartans have been low in numbers, but they fight. It is what they were born to do.

I love College Hoops 2k7, but the simulation engine is pretty wack. I had a year on my dynasty where I ended up playing 15-seeded Iona in the Elite Eight.

If jumpshots block out the sun, the Spartans will fight in the shade.

Well hell, I’d be thrilled to see this year’s ‘Nova squad make it back to the Elite Eight. Not so much the part where they lose by twenty-nine points, mind you, but still…

1up.com did the same thing, w/ March Madness and 2k7. After seeing the results, my plan of doing at least one bracket w/ a simulation from 2k6 (beat that!) quickly went down the shitter.

All Picks are so far correct in this region, including the Duke upset, we are done with 2 of 3 rounds of games. Day 1

The video game obviously knows more about Indiana than I do. I had the Zags. :(
