I love writing these articles about athletes doing ignorant things such as picking up DUI’s or beating their wives. Dominic Rhodes is the latest to join the criminal athlete club, picking up a DUI last night after going 81 in a 55 mph zone. Well done Dominic, well done.
It’s a shame to see athletes make stupid mistakes like this. I hope Dominic wasn’t hitting the bottle as hard as he was hitting holes against the Bears in the Super Bowl. As a potential free agent, it’s usually not good for someone’s image to pick up a DUI in the offseason. Maybe he’s still celebrating their domination a few weeks back, but it’s still not an excuse. I thought he was going to Disneyland, not Boozetown.
Rhodes is a great player, and I believe that he can be a stud feature back for some team in the NFL (cough cough Giants and Jets). Part of becoming a star in the NFL, however, includes staying out of trouble. Just ask Chris Henry how hard it is to be seen as a worthwhile person in society despite getting arrested regularly.
