Calm Down Bill

bbgtfo.gifBill Belichick has been a frequent target of mine since we launched Sportable. I bashed his wardrobe and then linked a story about him having sex with someone’s wife. Everyone knows he has the personality of a mud fence. But we didn’t think he was such a prick. That assumption was proved wrong in the aftermath of New England’s win yesterday over the Jets.

While posting on a forum that was following the game, I found everyone laughing at Belichick’s treatment of a camera man. Thanks to DVR, I was able to rewind the game and see what the fuss was all about. It was Belichick violently shoving a camera man away so he could embrace Eric Mangini. It wasn’t as bad to watch as the kissing of Bill Parcells a couple years back but a simple handshake would have sufficed.

A lot of fuss was about the general hostility between Belichick and Mangini. Rather than come out and say there’s no hostility, they went over the top with a hug. To prove he liked Mangini, he shoved that DSLR into the poor camera guy’s face. It was something out of a movie. There’s lots of chaos and two people are desperately looking for each other in the fray.

Bill: Eriiiiiiiiiiiiic!!!
Eric: Billllllllllll!!!!
Bill: I can’t find you!!!
Eric: Over here!!!
Bill: I’m waving my hoody. Do you see me?
Eric: I do!! Come closer!
Bill: Move your ass! *shoving*

Hopefully, we see nothing of the sort this Sunday in San Diego. A simple handshake between Marty Schottenheimer and Belichick will do just fine.
