Maybe Shaun Alexander will do just fine without Steve Hutchinson. Alexander shook off a slow start, likely associated with the Madden Curse, and ran over, around, and through the Packers defense. The Seahawks looked a bit more explosive with all their key parts back, but this is a team with some flaws. Last night’s game involving the defending NFC Champions showed just how far behind the NFC is this season.
One of my favorite parts of last night’s epic struggle was the presence of Jimmy Kimmel. This interview was a little more entertaining than the likes of Ronde Barber or Arnold Schwarzenegger. Kimmel did his best to isolate Joe Theisman, which I’m always a fan of. Few people have made a better entrance than Kimmel, who quickly asked, “Hey Joe, hows the leg?” Some may think the reference to a brutal injury is out of line, I think Theismamn’s presence in the announcing booth is out of line. So we’re even.
Chalk it up to rust. Chalk it up to the snow. But last night’s game was ugly. Each team committed four turnovers, which made me tune out of the game on more than one occasion. This matchup simply wasn’t too appealing. While it’s true that flex scheduling involving Monday Night Football would be a bit more complicated because everything would be pushed back a day, it really needs to happen. But it was nice to see Shaun Alexander regain his form (201 yards on 40 carries!)
It couldn’t be a better situation for the Seahawks. They’re getting healthy, the 49ers lost to St. Louis, and the Seahawks extended their lead in the thrilling NFC West to two games. But thankfully for all of us, Mike Holmgren isn’t complaining about referees yet. That likely happens during Seattle’s game in Denver on Sunday Night. For a team that simply isn’t that fun to watch, isn’t three primetime games in five weeks a bit much? I’d say so.
