Thanks For Dressing Up Bill

bill-custom.jpgI’ve grown accustomed to Bill Belichick over the past few years. You can say I even have gotten to know him. Thanks to ESPN, I know more about him than he does. I even know what his son does on the weekend. I also know that his fashion sense has never been good. But tonight is just ridiculous.

Maybe Belichick wanted to save the Versace for next weekend’s Sunday Night game against the Colts. He’s never been one to dress up on gameday. But tonight is a new low. It’s a cut-off sweatshirt similar to that of the guys at my local car wash. And it’s not a very smooth cut. It’s like he let Tom Brady take an ax to his sweatshirt before the game. “If you remove this damn hood from this sweatshirt, I’ll let you throw 50 times!” It looks awful.Just because tonight’s game is in a dome doesn’t mean Belichick can get away with this. Is he wearing Homer Simpson slippers as well? Come on Bill, you’re on national TV. Millions of people are watching, the troops are watching!! Don’t show up to the game wearing your PJs.

I’m not telling you to dress up as Landry or Lombardi. But something half decent would do a lot for your image Bill. Might I suggest this coach’s polo shirt? Or this one? Hell, I’ll even buy you this shirt. But you have to stand next to Joe Theismann if you’re going to wear it. It’s not really necessary to dress up as a bum on the sidelines. Halloween isn’t until tomorrow. So do me a favor Belichick and just stick to a regular hoodie this Sunday Night. Unless you want to squeeze into this and be grounds for another column.

[...] Did you see them? That’s the San Francisco 49ers in sole possession of 2nd place. Mike Nolan has to get Joe Girardi-esque Coach of the Year consideration. San Francisco is currently 5-5 and just a game back of Seattle. Who saw that coming? I thought they were on the right track but the quick improvement they’re making is definitely an eye opener. And they’re doing it without the services of their first rounder Vernon Davis, whose been out most of the season. After allowing 30+ points in five of their first seven games, the 9ers have given up just 30 points in their last three. That’s because of Nolan. I have to admire his sense of style too. It sure beats Belichick. [...]

[...] Bill Belichick has been a frequent target of mine since we launched Sportable. I bashed his wardrobe and then linked a story about him having sex with someone’s wife. Everyone knows he has the personality of a mud fence. But we didn’t think he was such a prick. That assumption was proved wrong in the aftermath of New England’s win yesterday over the Jets. [...]
