After another Browns loss (no surprise there) Joe Jurevicius made a few sharp remarks regarding the fans and media and subsequently apologized. I’m not buying this apology, no, Joe you said to Hell with me, so I say to Hell with you.
You want to disregard criticism from the fans and media? Good luck with that Joe. Ask the owners how well that works. Oh you want to completely ignore the wants and needs of our fans? That should help us sell tickets and boost our public image. Wrong. When fans get pissy and start raising all sorts of hell, coaches and owners listen. Example one: Drew Bledsoe. People start getting fired, and changes start getting made to turn organizations around, although I guess the Cleveland Browns of recent memory wouldn’t know anything about that.
I know you’re fed up Joe. I would be too if Charlie Frye was throwing passes to me. But you’re a professional athlete, that means you’re supposed to have composure and take things in stride. And you sure as hell don’t bite the hand that feeds you. You think alienating the media and the fans worked well for Ryan Leaf? Here’s a hint; it didn’t. I suggest you check yourself next time you’re about to say something in regards to the fans or media.
