Sonny’s Stylewatch: Headwear 101
Posted by sonny on October 12, 2006
Today I?m here to provide some insight and guidelines as to what to wear on your head and what not to. Hats are probably one of the best fashion elements in today?s world. Seriously, not only do chicks dig the long ball, but they want a guy who has good taste too. The best provider for hats by far has to be the New Era Cap Company. Since 1920 the New York based company has fitted us with multiple styles and designs, but the most famous cap of them all is the “59-Fifty“. The ?59-Fifty? caps come in many unique and surprising styles. The first hat that will turn heads or even cause accidents might be the “Candyman” hat. Okay, if you?re seen wearing this hat in public end your life immediately or else someone else will. The Candyman hat should only be reserved for people who drive Ice Cream trucks or for people who discuss candy regularly. Next we move on to the ?Digi Camo?. Now when I look at this hat I can?t help but say, ?Why the hell would you want to buy that?? Want on God?s green earth is going to match with that? Unless you are headed out on military duty and you need to rep your team while out there, don?t buy this hat.
As promised the New Era Company has come out with hats that are simply genius. The first hat in which I will exam is the ?MLB GPS?. Not only is this hat extremely fashionable, but if you ever get lost going to the ballpark, just take off your cap and tell Mapquest to get lost. Recently one of my good friends purchased this ?City Series? hat and I could not wait to see what other cities New Era came out with. I?m all about representing your favorite team and the city they play in, so by purchasing one of these hats you represent both.
Moving aside from cities hats, why not sport a ?Cap of the World?. This hat along with others were created to adorn your homelands colors. The hats do cost $75.00 a piece, but showing your national pride is priceless. Look for more Caps of The World in the near future.
Finally I have decided to save the best hats for last. The ?Capture the Flag? series of hats are the best hats out right now in my opinion. The Roberto Clemente hat happens to be my personal favorite. The hat was created by Roberto?s sons Luis and Roberto Jr. Any hat that displays the stats and trophies of a true champion is phenomenal. Also New Era created the Capture the Flag Cap for non-athletes as well. Celebrities such as The Game, Jake Burton, and Ali B all have their own styles. All of these hats cost $125.00 and come with a protective case surfaced with satin. Remember sports fans there are 2 things to remember when picking out a hat:
1. Represent your squad.
2. Make sure you look good doing it.
